Jermaine his brother said, “He is believed to have suffered a cardiac arrest.” According to Jermaine, doctors tried in vain to save him for an hour. He requested media to respect their privacy during this time.

GM to Cut 7,500 Blue-Collar Jobs

GM was successful to make a big number of hourly work force in US to leave the organization. The hourly workers of this giant automaker have agreed to leave for a buyout or early retirement incentives.

According to the news, around 7,500 workers – all work for hourly wages – have agreed to leave the organization. I don’t think they have much choice, because the company is in stake of crisis, low demand and big loans. It is better to leave the company with incentives, rather than stay in it and have nothing at the end, when the company goes bankrupt.

Chrysler LLC, another automaker, is also into enticing its blue-collar workers to leave the organization. It has even extended its deadline of enticing them.

GM has made another big plan in order to comply with its reduced sales. It offered $20,000 cash and a $25,000 voucher to their blue-collar employees in order to entice them to leave as well as buy a car. Thus, it is a 2-way win-win for the GM. One is to make its workers leave. The other one is to sell a big number of their cars (around 62,400 hourly U.S. employees were given this offer).

Britons to Cut on Trips This Year

This gloomy season is to affect the tourism industry a lot. Lets take the example of Britons. A survey found that they are going to cut on tours and trips this year to a drastic numbers.

A survey from Travelmole revealed that Britons are going to cut their abroad trips by one-fifth of the general trips. Around 21 percent, of the 1000 Britons surveyed, are going to decrease their number of holidays this year, to cope up with the economic downturn.

The British holiday accommodation enquiries also fell by 24 percent in hotels, by 15 percent in holiday homes and by 17 percent in hostels.

Supporting these figures, another research by Eurocontrol came up with some stats. It said that there was a 1.7 percent decrease in number of flights from UK to other countries. In December alone, there was a big fall of 7 percent in the number of flights. Industry is expecting more bad numbers this year.

Williams Beats Williams in Wimbledon Women’s Final

As a tennis lover I always disappointed when Williams sisters played in finals but this Wimbledon finals I didn’t feel like that. Because I feel every time when they are met in the finals one of them show underperformance means don’t shows the full caliber. But this time they played splendidly and the older Williams sister beat the younger one. The seventh-seeded Venus topped the sixth-ranked Serena, in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4, to claim her fifth Wimbledon singles’ title. Venus had not beaten her younger sister in the final of a main tournament since the 2001 U.S. Open, and is now 1-5 against Serena in the finals. The two sisters fought hard for the title with strong serves and sharp strokes. They threw their rackets in frustration after making mistakes.

The more experienced and focused Venus emerged the winner, but the sisters soon came back and hugged each other after the game. Venus said, “You could never detract from winning a Wimbledon, so of course it doesn’t detract from that. But I’m definitely thinking about how my sister’s feeling.” Their father Richard, who introduced tennis to his daughters in a California slum, returned to the United States before the match, leaving only their mother in the stands. Venus, who set a new Wimbledon record with a serve of 208 kilometers per hour, also won the women’s double title paired with her sister. Venus won a combined 865,000 pounds (about 1.71 million U.S. dollars) in prize money in this year’s Wimbledon, or 750,000 pounds for her singles title and 115,000 pounds for her doubles’ win.
